Sherry Baldy Besties + Frosted Designs = Cutest Journal EVER

Hi Everyone,
I am so excited to show you a project that I did for the monthly Frosted Designs challenge. This month we were to incorporate something metallic into our project and I'll tell you about that in a moment.

The prize sponsor this month is Sherry Baldy and her 'Besties" are just adorable.

So, without further ado, here is the finished project.

I began this project with a wood covered journal that I picked up at Michael's a while back for $1. Yup... I got a couple of them.

I applied gesso to the front and back of the journal covers and used acrylic paints and stencils to add a texture looking background.

I used a scrap paper 'scrap' that matched and added it to the inside edges of both the front and the back covers as seen below.

I printed out an adorable digi stamp from Sherry Baldy and colored it with my Copic markers to match the journal cover! Is she cute as all get out or what?

You will not believe what I added to this to incorporate the 'metallic' element.

Most of you know I just bought a home in Florida and was down there at the beginning of August. One of the many things I had to do was add chain pull to the ceiling fans as they were mounted in the center of cathedral ceilings and were way higher than my reach ( I'm 5' 3" on a feeling tall day).

And, any one who knows mixed media artists knows that they save EVERYTHING as a possible use in their art.  Truth!!! So, of course, I threw the leftover pieces of chain pull in my suitcase and brought it home.

When it was time to add a metallic element to this journal, I pulled out the pieces and framed this cute girl with it. Nothing wasted by THIS artist.. ha ha.

I love her!

Please check out Sherry Baldi's digi stamps in her Etsy Shop as they are so much fun to color and would look so cute on your craft projects!

Art Busy: Getting ready for Coffee Shop display

Hi everyone,

I have been very busy trying to participate more in the supportive art groups I belong to on Facebook as well as getting ready for my art display in September at Grounds For Coffee.

Yesterday, I bought more frames for my original art and I have been busy putting them together. Here are a couple I framed today and I loved how they turned out.

City Angel

Sisters

Balloons: You Can Fly or You Can Soar

Balloons: Over the Mountains

These, as well as many more, will be on display the entire month of September at
Grounds For Coffee Harrison location.

This coffee shop supports local artists, so please stop in , get a beverage and thank them! They will surely appreciate your patronage.

These are the originals and they will be for sale. If there is one or more you would like to purchase, just let the associate at the counter know and they will put a sold sign on it for you. All sold pieces can be picked up at the end of the month unless I have one to hang in it's place.

As always, you can get prints at my shop on ArtPal, too.

Well,  back to framing more pieces. This is a very exciting adventure for me, so as always, I appreciate your encouragement and support!
