From Love to Hate to Love : Painting Morphed

Over the weekend, I really felt like I needed to paint. My thumb has healed enough and I couldn't wait to get into my studio.

I sketched this indian girl and had a pretty good idea of how I wanted to paint her.

I have documented my progress and although she ended up NOTHING like I had imagined her to be, I really like the end result. Have to say, however, that I fell out of love of her a couple times in the process!

Fall, no... Summer... no Fall Is In The Air!

Last week I had the coolest surgery on my thumb relieving weeks of pain. They gave me the cutest pink bandage and honest to goodness, I was good as new the very next day!

We had a couple of pretty chilly days and I was convinced that autumn had arrived and I would not get warm again for many months. I actually built a fire to try and warm up!

However, today was actually the first day of Fall and the temps were in the 80s. Go figure! I am not complaining, mind you, but I am starting to go that seaonal confusion stage when I get dressed in the morning. I bundle up, only to shed just about everything by the end of the day.

I love autumn, but call me crazy, I am NOT ready for summer to end!

My Artist Cards Are Here!

This weekend my artist cards came in and I couldn't be more excited. They show a few pieces of my art and I think I have all my contact info covered. I ordered 500, so I guess it's time to start leaving them EVERYWHERE! haha

I really procrastinated over what to put on them that would represent myself and my work. I think they do that, but time will tell if I need to redesign the next batch.

Always thankful for the support and encouragement I receive from everyone, but I'll say it again... Thank you!

Back to Making Art I Love

I have been on quite a journey and will continue as I try new mediums in art. I am always learning and I enjoy that. But sometimes, I miss the drawing and coloring with Copics.

So the other night (morning, really... 4am) when I just couldn't seem to sleep, I decided I wanted to just draw something that made me happy. By 5am I had this start and I was tired enough to drag myself to bed. Actually, I went to bed with just a pencil drawing on my table.

I got up about 830am and started inking. And then erased all the pencil. I can't even begin to tell you how happy my heart was to get back to making the art I love to create.

After some chores, I sat down to start coloring. I love every step of this process!!!

Progression:

And finally, the finished painting... a mix of Copic fun and acrylic experiments with my new Tim Holtz stencils... haha.. LOVE!

Featured Artist At Grounds For Coffee

I am the featured artist at Grounds For Coffee for the month of September. Tonight, with two of my friends, I was able to hang my art on the walls of the coffee shop.

I planned well, and yet not well enough. I could have taken a few more pieces, but all in all, I loved seeing them hung together.

It was getting busy as I was finishing, so I was only able to infringe on the customers a little more to get these blurry photos.

I can't thank Suzy from Grounds For Coffee enough for giving me the opportunity to display my art locally. I am beyond excited.

Please stop by and grab a cup of coffee and check out my paintings. Every piece is Art From My Heart!
